Safeguarding Children e-Academy expands Integrated Working courses
Virtual College | Leeds, West Yorkshire

8-Mar-2010 » Training Press Releases » The Safeguarding Children e-Academy has added to its existing stable of 'Integrated Working' e-learning courses.

The Safeguarding Children e-Academy has added to its existing stable of 'Integrated Working' e-learning courses.

The development is intended to provide new skills and knowledge needed by all who work - and volunteer - with children, young people and families.

An operating division of online training pioneer Virtual College, of Ilkley, West Yorkshire, the Safeguarding Children e-Academy has expanded and diversified to become a recognised UK leader in the delivery of interactive online learning for the children's workforce.

The academy's established Integrated Working basic awareness courses, which cover the Common Assessment Framework, the role of the lead professional, information sharing and Contact Point, have been well receved in the Safeguarding world.

They have now been supplemented by two further courses - Information Sharing Level 2 and Contact Point Level 2.

The latter provides more specialist training for practitioners adopting the government's new Contact Point system, which has been specifically designed to help users better understand what information can actually be recorded and how it should best be documented.

Safeguarding Children e-Academy manager Abby Dacres explained: "Every local authority in the country now has a duty to ensure that all staff who access and record information about children they work with should follow recognised procedures.

"This becomes even more important when information is to be shared across a multitude of practitioners and roles.

"Responsible recording and sharing of information is key to achieving best practice and our new courses build on our existing Integrated Working module by detailing more specific scenario-based learning to help practitioners further understand their specific roles and responsibilities.

"They will help organisations meet the training needs of thousands of practitioners very quickly. Many bodies are already using the online provision to complement their face-to-face delivery in order to meet required deadlines."

The Safeguarding Children e-Academy now has a 61-strong UK-wide network of predominantly Local Safeguarding Children Board members, with almost 154,000 registered e-learners. Course details are posted at www.safeguardingchildrenea.co.uk
